exclusive dealer of the OBS in Germany, Poland, Russia and all CIS countries, with the exclusion of Ukraine. The agreement, effective immediately, has been made ahead of the anticipated ratification of the IMO’s BWM (Ballast Water Management) Convention, which industry observers now believe is imminent.
The ratification will see the approximately 100,000 strong SOLAS fleet rushing to install proven ballast water treatment (BWT) systems – so far only around 3,000 units have been ordered –leading to potential supply and installation bottlenecks. Optimarin and Zeppelin’s partnership will ensure that customers receive market-leading systems within agreed timeframes, to the very highest engineering standards.
“Ratification is approaching and this will lead to a surge in demand from shipowners looking for flexible, reliable and efficient systems that are simple to install and maintain,” comments Optimarin CEO Tore Andersen. “Zeppelin is renowned in the marketplace for providing first class engineering, on time deliveries and comprehensive world-wide after sales service. In that respect they’re the perfect partner for serving this crucial market; ensuring that shipowners get Optimarin systems and ensure complete compliance, and reliable operation, for their fleets.”
Zeppelin Power Systems CEO Volker Poßögel adds: “There is a huge opportunity within the BWT segment and Zeppelin sees the clear benefit of partnering with a market leader to satisfy demand. Optimarin is the obvious choice. With their experience, market position and proven system we are confident we can provide our customers in Eastern Europe and the CIS nations with not only the best technology possible, but also complete peace of mind”.
