Concordia Towing to Genoa

Jul 25 - 1 pm CET  
After about 2 days of navigation, the Concordia and its convoy have travelled for about 130 nautical miles heading to Genoa Prà-Voltri. At the moment, the average speed is about 2.1
knots and the weather and sea conditions are good, with light wind and calm sea. For this evening and tomorrow morning , Saturday July 26th, a worsening of weather conditions is forecasted with local rains on the Riviera di Levante; weather conditions will improve in the afternoon to be then stable from the evening to Sunday. The results of environmental samplings performed last Wednesday in the stern and bow area of the wreck have been released this morning by the Environmental Lab onboard the vessel Diciotti: the quality of the water is confirmed. Also the environmental assessment done by the helicopter Koala operated by the Coast Guard is good. Further analyses have been carried out this morning by technicians of ARPAL, ARPAT e Port Authority. ###

There are still about 60 nautical miles to reach Genoa Prà-Voltri and, after 2 days of navigation,  the Concordia is now about 20 miles West from La Spezia. At the moment, the convoy has an average speed of about 1.7 knots which could be further slowed down in the next hours in order to allow the arrival in front of the port between Saturday night and Sunday morning, as per plan. The entrance in the port will be on Sunday morning, July 27th. Today weather and sea conditions have been good, with calm sea and light wind from the south. A worsening of weather conditions is forecasted for tonight, with local rains in Liguria until tomorrow at noon. Weather conditions will improve in the afternoon to then become stable from the evening and on Sunday.
